The Sweetwater County Child Developmental Center (SCCDC) is a private, non-profit organization that has served the children and families in Sweetwater County since 1979. 

We are the State of Wyoming’s Early Intervention and Education Program (EIEP) for children ages birth through five residing in Sweetwater County.  We offer a variety of services to help your child meet their developmental milestones and to maximize their developmental progress.  Our certified teachers and therapists provide the following services at no cost to families:

  • Developmental Screenings and Evaluations

  • Cognitive/Pre-Academic Skill Development

  • Social and Emotional Development

  • Occupational, Speech, Feeding and Physical Therapies

  • Family Service Coordination

  • Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP)

We offer free preschool for children receiving specialized instruction and tuition-based preschool for typically developing three to five year-olds. We offer Tuition Assistant for Needy Families (TANF) for typically developing students who qualify. We use evidence-based curricular materials including Core Knowledge Language Arts, Eureka Math, Heggerty Phonological Awareness, Zoo Phonics and Zones of Regulation. The SCCDC uses the Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) therapy approach with children who struggle with expressive communication.

  • Speech-Language Pathologists and SLP Assistants

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist

  • Licensed Physical Therapist

  • Registered Play Therapist/Social Worker

  • PTSB Licensed Early Childhood Special Educators

  • Special Education Paraprofessionals

  • Family Service Coordinators

  • School Principal

  • Special Education Compliance Coordinator

  • Administrative and Clerical Staff

  • Custodial Staff

  • Contracted Services with Teacher of the Deaf, Teacher of the Visually Impaired and Instructional Coaches

The SCCDC is currently funded through several sources. We receive partial funding for contracted services through the Federal government and the State of Wyoming Department of Behavioral Health in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C, Part B/611 and Part B/619. We receive Sweetwater County 6th Cent Overage Money for Rock Springs Occupancy Expenses, the City of Green River 6th Cent Overage Money for Green River Occupancy Expenses, and Sweetwater County School District #2 contracted services for Child Find. We receive preschool tuition and fees for general education students.  We also rely on various grants, fundraisers and donations to meet our organizational needs.

Early Childhood Special Educator - Rock Springs

The Early Childhood Special Educator (ECSE) is responsible for planning, directing, managing, and implementing the curriculum, activities, assessment, and operations of their Special Education Caseload. The Early Childhood Special Educator will work collaboratively with the General Education Staff, Therapists, and any other staff to ensure the needs of all students are met.

Classroom Aide/Para

A Classroom Aide/Para is responsible for providing support to the classroom teacher by assisting with the needs of the students, activities and cleaning/disinfecting the classroom. Classroom aides/paras are responsible for checking in/checking out students in Procare and substituting for the classroom teacher when they are absent.

Preschool Teacher - Green River

The Preschool Teacher is responsible for planning, directing, managing, and implementing the curriculum, activities, assessment and operations of their respective classroom. The Preschool Teacher will work collaboratively with the special education staff, therapists and any other staff to ensure the needs of all students are met. The Preschool Teacher will train, support, direct, and supervise their assigned classroom aide/para.
